Bobbie was born Jan. 12, 1954 to Richard and Joan Hams and grew up in Murphys, Calif. Her daughter, Shawnica Erp was born in Jan. of 1972 followed by her son, James Humphrey in Jan of 1980. They moved to Thompson Falls in 1983. There she met the love of her life, Larry McKenzie and they married May 16, 1990.
Bobbie touched many people over her life with her humor, compassion, and love of life. Everywhere she went, she gave part of herself and many times went without to help family and friends in need.
Bobbie had a passion for water and "rock hounding" in creeks, rivers, and oceans. Bobbie loved to read; especially science fiction and she loved movies. She loved plants and planting flowers in her many flower beds. Bobbie loved to travel and spent as much of her time as she could visiting her family all over the country. Bobbie and Larry loved riding their Harleys together and she was always planning her next travel adventure.
Bobbie met many people throughout her life and touched many lives in the various jobs she worked over the years, but had the greatest opportunity to reach out to people at her job at Spring Creek Academy where she was known as the "Queen of the Hungry Horse."
Bobbie will be missed greatly by all who knew her, but by her family most of all. She was preceded by her brother, Billy Harris.
She is survived by her loving husband, Larry McKenzie of Thompson Falls, daughter, Shawnica Erp and special son-in-law, Alan and grandchildren, Kyle, Bryan, and Bailey, Jennifer Erp Sabella, Kaylee and Evalena Sabella, all of Florida; son, James Humphrey, his wife Samantha and grandchildren Jaleina and Isabella, all of Utah; son, Rodney McKenzie of Thompson Falls; daughter, Bernadette McKenzie Tabury and granddaughters, Madison and Jordyn of Thompson Falls; step-daughter, Terese (Robert) Helvey of Thompson Falls and grandchildren Jake, Jason, Casey, Clete & DeeDee; step-son, Randy McKenzie and grandchildren, Larry, Jeff, and Sarah; sister, Kathy Harris and family, Doug and Charlotte of Oregon and Idaho; sister, Penny Harris-Miles and family, Jessica, Billy, Gary and Richard, all of California; brother, John Harris of Idaho; sister, Terry Harris of California; father, Richard Harris of Murphys, Calif. and mother, Joan Harris of Oregon.
Memorial Services will be held Saturday, April 21, at the Thompson Falls High School Gym at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that for all those whose lives were made special by knowing her to plant a flower or tree in her name or especially to "pay it forward" in her name to honor the wonderful, caring, compassionate and selfless woman that Bobbie is.
Rest in Peace Mom. We love you and we will meet you at the river.
