Cap is survived by his wife of 68 years, Lila (Blair) Riffle, his son, Douglas E. Riffle of Thompson Falls and daughter, Donna L. Riffle Dicksson of Garland, Texas. Cap’s grandchildren are David Quitt of Kailua, Hawaii, Debera Quitt Meador of Tacoma, Wash., Gene Riffle of Kalispell, and Mark Riffle of Thompson Falls. He was also blessed with four great-grandsons, four great-granddaughters, and one great-great-granddaughter.
He is preceded in death by his eight older siblings and his parents Charles “Ernie” Riffle and Jeanette White. Jeanette’s mother, Cap’s grandmother, was Mattie Lee Price, the famous Georgia wonder who appeared as a stage magician on the same venue as Harry Houdini in the 1890s. Ms. Price was also a member of the Barnum and Bailey circus 1897-1899. This circus history was a happy influence in Cap’s life. All who knew him know how much he loved to train his dogs and birds to do tricks.
Cap was a WWII veteran, a one-time pilot, a ham radio operator, a truck driver and sawmill worker. He loved hunting and fishing.
Family and close friends will gather this summer to remember him.
