Mick was born August 3, 1934 to parents James Henry Larkin and Venita (Hulverson) Larkin in Finley, N.D. The family later moved to Noxon. In 1957, Mick enlisted in the Army. Very shortly thereafter Mick was honorably discharged due to the hardship that his family was facing. Mick spent the remainder of his life primarily working in construction as a heavy equipment driver but also did some work as a logger and as a land surveyor. In 1969, Mick married Frances Larkin and from that union they were blessed with a blended family of two sons and four daughters.
Mick had an enthusiasm for the outdoors enjoying fishing, hunting, camping, and boating. He enjoyed the time spent playing a guitar and singing. Reading western stories, making home videos of the time spent with his beloved family, and telling jokes were also things he was known for. From the passion Mick had as a devoted husband and loving father, it was no surprise that he thoroughly enjoyed being a grandpa and great-grandpa.
He is survived by his wife Fran of Great Falls; daughters, Cheri Larkin of Winston, Mont., Cindy (Mike) Drake of Quincy, Wash., Sue (Mark) Peterson of Great Falls, and Connie Stafford of Anchorage, Alaska; sons, Jerry (Tami) Larkin of Farmersville, Texas and Dave (Deb) Stafford of Coeur d' Alene, Idaho; sister, Anne Gerstenberger of Thompson Falls; brother, Jim Larkin (Cecilia) of Spokane, Wash.; 13 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren.
Mick was preceded in death by both parents; brothers, Larry and Donnie; sisters, Jean and Nori; and three infant children.
