Her Family came to live in Spokane, Wash., when her father was stationed at Fairchild Air Force Base. In 1975 she along with her daughter Michelle, married David Shining and his family.
In 1979 Janet had her second child Amber Dawn, completing their small family.
Janet devoted many years of her life, to being a wife, homemaker and a mother. Friends were always welcome-and fed well! With the birth of her first grandchild came the name "Grandma Cookie" which was a name that she carried proudly for the rest of her life.
Around 1998, Janet moved to Thompson Falls, Montana to begin her journey of a more simply led life, building what she hoped would be a special place for her family. Through the years, Janet demonstrated a capacity to love without limits and show compassion to anyone in need. She will remain in our hearts and memories always.
She is survived by her mother Eva Mae Lawson; her husband and life long partner David Shining; siblings Bobby and Kenneth Lawson, and Carolyn Kohler; daughters Michelle Polk and Amber Bergstrom; grandchildren Shelbi, Shandi, Shaylee Polk, Drew Bergstrom and Alexis Martin; sons-in law Dan Martin, Brandon Berstrom and Jeremy Polk and numerous friends and loved ones.
The family wishes a heartfelt thank you to Butch Karlin and Janna and Cliff Howe of Thompson Falls, Montana and all of the people that have loved and supported her throughout the years. The family will be holding a private memorial at a later date.
