Jeannette Marie (Racicot) Guldseth and her twin brother William Racicot were born June 18, 1922 in Libby to Harry and Hazel Racicot. She was raised and attended school in Libby until 1934 when the family moved to Thompson Falls. They arrived by train and she often reminisced about when the train left the station and she looked up the hill, her first thought was "we have to walk up that?"
After graduation she worked as a waitress at Thompson River Ranch and Norm's Cafe. It was at Norm's Cafe that she met the love of her life, Howard Guldseth. They were married in Thompson Falls August 30, 1947 and raised three children there, Bill, Julie and Bob.
Mom also cleaned many homes and offices in Thompson Falls, including the Rittenour Medical Clinic, Forest Service and Ledger, and did laundry for the grocery stores, and whatever other odd jobs she could find to keep busy. Because of her love for children, she became a licensed daycare provider and became "Honey" to many boys and girls in Thompson Falls.
The most important things in Mom's life were her faith, her family and her friends. She was one of the original members of St. William's Parish and participated for many years in Alter Society. She enjoyed many years of fun drinking coffee and gossiping with the Church ladies, and looked forward every week to lunch with the Monday church group and Sunday breakfast after Mass.
Mom was also an avid baker and for years made cookies for every holiday and event imaginable. She had a quick wit and a great love for her family. She loved unconditionally at all times. She was happiest surrounded by her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She looked forward to mother-daughter Monday nights at the bowling alley and lunches with Julie during the week; holidays with the family at Bill and Glenda's listening to the bantering, laughter and reminiscing, and drives around Sanders County with Bob whenever he made it back for a visit.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Hazel; her brothers, Bob and Bill; and her beloved husband, Howard.
She is survived by her sons, Bill (Glenda) Guldseth and Bob Guldseth; daughter, Julie (Jim) Watts; grandchildren, Todd (Amy) Guldseth, Karla (Shawn) Smith and Jasmine Watts; great-grandchildren, Bryson Smith, Brittney Smith, Kale Guldseth, Ali Guldseth, Gage Guldseth and Hoyt Bangen, and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to give a special thank you to Mitzi Hart, Ron and Pat Kazmierczak, Gary and Lynn Cooper, and Bill and Jane Dibert for all your kindness and friendship.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 23 at 11 a.m. at St. William's Church in Thompson Falls.
