He attended grade school in Trout Creek and high school in Thompson Falls. He enlisted in the Air Force and served four years before moving to Wishram, Wash. and going to work for Burlington Northern Santa Fe. He worked for the railroad for nearly 30 years.
Jim is survived by sons, J.T. McCann of Beaverton, Ore and Randy McCann of Surprise, Ariz.; daughter, Brenda of Woodland, Wash.; six grandchildren; brother, Bud McCann of Lynwood, Ill.; sisters, Pat Cameron of Kalispell and Joanie Eichert of Trout Creek; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Bill and Floyd McCann, and sister Edwa “Sis” Hill.
He loved the mountains of Montana and hunting and fishing. His ashes will be returned to Montana and scattered in the mountains at a favorite spot.
