He then moved to Spokane, Wash. where he attended Rodgers High School. After high school he moved to San Jose, Calif. where he passed away April 5, 2017 at the age of 31. He attended San Jose City College and was active in student government, studied political science and was a music DJ on campus. He then took several courses at San Jose State University. While living in San Jose, Joel worked for FedEx. He was also a past member of Clark Fork Valley Elks in Thompson Falls.
He loved to cook, hike, hunt, he loved music, and had a great collection of hats, but most of all he loved God and his family.
He leaves behind his father, Fred Fagan and wife Maureen; mother, Melissa McCoy and husband Tony; grandfather and grandmother Frank and Barbie McCoy; sisters, Amy Che and husband Jorge, Sara Gomez and husband Javier, Danielle Fagan, Amanda Moseley and husband Davey, Amber Scrupps and husband Chris; brothers, Jacob Fagan and wife Katie, Jason Barnes and wife Alyshia; uncles, Bill Fagan, Joe Fagan and wife Glenda; aunts, Acadian and husband Igan, Teresa Whitmer and husband John and Mary Crouse. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was loved by many people and will be missed.
