Kathy was born in Yakima, Wash. October 29, 1949, daughter of Donna and John Machin.
In 1962 her family moved to Plains where she finished grade school and graduated from Plains High School in 1968. She met her future husband, Patrick Legard, that year and they were married June 29, 1968.
While living in Idaho she became active as a Cub Scout leader and in 4-H. Her three boys all started 4-H showing rabbits. Working with her boys and other youngsters, she carried on in 4-H after they moved back to Plains. The boys all raised and showed swine. Kathy loved her pigs. She continued to be active in 4-H with her grandchildren and nephew’s children. For three years, she had charge of the 4-H kitchen at fair time. Good food was always served.
For 12 years, Kathy worked with the clients of Little Bitterroot. She loved each and every one of the clients.
Kathy was preceded in death by her much loved stepfather, Roland McCrea and her grandparents on both sides of the family.
She is survived by her husband, Patrick; sons, Scott (Sharon), Eric (Patsy), and Mark, and her almost fourth son, Roland McCrea; her mother, Donna McCrea; sisters, Robin (Doug) Ovitt and Julie Tompkins; grandchildren, Kierra Yoder, Jaycee Legard, Morgan, Travis, and Jessica Legard; nieces and nephews, Angela and Dezi Ovitt, Russ, Beau and James Ovitt, Kaylan, Erin, Cole and Donna Jean McCrea; and numerous other well loved cousins and in-laws.
