She was one year old when her family moved to Thompson Falls. She attended school here 12 years, becoming a member of Girls Athletic Assoc. and NHS. She worked at Norm’s Café before going to work for Stobie's IGA as head checker. In 1975 she married Ronald Hamel, a draftsman for National Log Homes. In 1977 they had a son, Kelly Joe and two years later a daughter, Angela Kay. After they were born she stayed home and did daycare service for many years. After the kids left home, she returned to the Rimrock as a housekeeper until her illness required her to retire.
Pat loved summer family barbeques, camping with family and friends and rummaging with her daughter and granddaughter. She was an avid reader and loved crossword puzzles and anagrams. She loved baking and teaching her granddaughter, Karissa Lowe, to do the same. Her apple pies are still famous. As many of you know, she was not the most graceful person and earned herself the nickname Grandma Trip.
She will never forget the support from the community when she was first diagnosed with cancer.
