Ron was born Dec. 17, 1948 in Portland, Ore. to Roy and Sally Loucks. He married Terri Rowe and they later divorced. Later, he married Jane Steadman.
He was employed by Idaho Supreme and the Yellowstone County Motor Vehicle Department in Billings. When they retired in 2006, Ron and Jane moved to Thompson Falls to the dream home he built on the water. He enjoyed fishing, boating, feeding wildlife, golfing, Billings Bulls hockey and tinkering around his shop. Ron also enjoyed his grandkids and his cats, Feebie, Kramer and Izabella.
Ron served in Vietnam while in the U.S. Army. He was an active member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and was instrumental in establishing the new Sgt. Vic Pirker VFW Post in Thompson Falls, where he served as Quartermaster. Ron was recently appointed as VFW National Aide-de-Camp. He was also an active member of Thompson Falls Branch of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
He is survived by his wife; children, Steven Loucks, Jason (Wendy) Loucks, Shantele (Chris) Vetch, Tahnee (Brandon) Gatlin and Kolter Steadman; grandchildren, Calvin, Macy, Trinity, Karter, Landry, Kaiden and Savanna; brothers, Robert, Jan and Jerry; sisters, Joanie and Julie; Aunt Dot; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 1 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at 1000 Wicks Lane in Billings. Burial will follow at Yellowstone National Veterans Cemetery in Laurel. A luncheon will follow at Billings Heights VFW at 637 Anchor.
