Born in Torrington, Conn. July 20, 1919, she was the youngest daughter of the late Michael and Maria Marciano. She married the late Anthony Cristaldi, Sr. in 1947 and lived in Torrington where they raised their two sons, Anthony (Andy) and Raymond. Upon their retirement, they moved to Port St. Lucie, Fla. to be close to Raymond and his family and her beloved sister, Nancy, and her family. Ten years ago, she was welcomed into her son Andy's home in Thompson Falls. She recently moved to Plains with her son where she resided at the time of her death.
While in Torrington, Rose was an active member of St. Peter's Church, the Holy Rosary Society, and the Columbiettes. Her home was a gathering place where her family, friends, and even strangers, always felt welcome and were loved and well fed. She was an avid bowler and an even more avid bingo player, a passion she continued until just before her passing. In Montana, she was a member of the Red Hat Society and a regular visitor at the Senior Centers in Thompson Falls and Plains where she quickly made many wonderful friends. She could also be seen at every one of her grandson Hayden's football and basketball games, proudly cheering for his team. As a lifelong devout Catholic, she ended each day reciting the Rosary.
Preceded in death by her husband and son Raymond, Rose is survived by her son Anthony, her beloved daughters-in-law, Teri Cristaldi of Port Orange, Fla., Karen Cristaldi of Port St. Lucie, Fla., and Barbara Woodruff of Anchorage, Alaska.; her grandchildren Chelsea Galloway, Anchorage, Alaska, Leah Cristaldi, Astoria, Ore., Hayden Cristaldi, Bozeman, Mont.; Anthony, Justin, and Michael Cristaldi of Port St. Lucie, Fla. and granddaughter, Toni Rae Sterling, of Torrington, Conn.. She also is survived by four great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, and special friends whom she held dear to her heart always. Finally, she would want all of the young people who respectfully knew her as "Grandma Rose" to know how much she appreciated their company, their laughter and their love.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to St. Labre Catholic Indian School, Ashland, MT 59004. Words of remembrance may be sent to Anthony at 21 Wildhorse Dr., Plains, MT 59859.
