Ruby was born in Iowa February 4, 1910. Her family came out west via covered wagon to Flaxville, Mont. where they homesteaded.
On June 9, 1927 she was united in marriage to Arthur DeTienne. They had two sons, Victor and Delmar, and years later their daughter Darla came along.
They lived in Eastern Montana on their homestead for many years before buying a ranch in Lonepine. Her husband Arthur passed away in 1975.
In 1955 she opened a successful dress shop in Plains. The next 60+ years she spent living back and forth between Plains and Hot Springs
Heaven is rejoicing in the reunion of her family as she was preceded in death by beloved family members: her husband Arthur, two sons, Victor and Delmar, a daughter-in-law, Vebeke, four brothers, two sisters, and a great-granddaughter.
She will be watching over those who are survived by her including her daughter, Darla (Robert) Saywers of Spokane; daughter-in law, Geraldine DeTienne of Hot Springs, 13 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and numerous great-great-grandchildren., nieces and nephews, as well great-nieces and nephews.
She will be remembered for her love of family. Her cookie jar was always full and her dinner table was always ready. She grew a beautiful garden, which she harvested and canned every year. She was known for her beautiful flowers and manicured yard everywhere she lived.
Services will be held September 17 at the Lutheran Church in Plains at 11 a.m. Graveside services will follow at Plains Cemetery. Reception will be held at the Plains Bible Chapel following the graveside service.
