Much to be thankful for in Sanders County

November 23, 2017

It’s hard to focus on the positive sometimes, and remember to be thankful. Especially around this time of year, the stress of the holidays can be overwhelming. But it’s important to take time to remember the good things, and be thankful for what you have.

Here are just a few things we are thankful for when it comes to living in Sanders County:

There are no stoplights, and the only traffic jams we encounter are caused by Canada geese and bighorn sheep.

You get to know law enforcement on a first-name basis ... in a good way.

You can go to the grocery store with unwashed hair and wearing sweatpants and no one will judge you.

When you dial the wrong number, you’ll probably end up having a very pleasant 15-minute conversation with someone you haven’t seen in awhile. ...

And then that person will know the number of who you’re trying to call.

You can still go to your neighbor for a cup of sugar.

There’s no shortage of helpful hands when you get a flat tire, have a leaky roof, or need help with medical bills.

That your first grade teacher is also your kid’s first grade teacher. And if you’re lucky, your grandkid’s, too.

When the UPS driver delivers packages daily, your neighbors know it’s just your Amazon Prime shopping habit and don’t think you’re up to something shady.

And said UPS driver knows where you live, where you work, what you drive, and your dog’s name.

So if you’re braving the Black Friday shopping or if you’ve had a little too much family time this weekend, remember to be thankful and focus on the positive. After all, not everyone gets to live in a place where the next person in line will probably cover you when you’re a few bucks short.
