December 14, 2017

Let the barrage of sports begin.

A virtual barrage of high school sports is on tap for the next few weeks as the holiday season and its accompanying break in action rapidly approaches.

The schedule for the remainder of 2017 looks to be hot and heavy on the basketball courts and wrestling mats of western Montana.

In basketball, the Thompson Falls Lady Hawks will start their next week of play at Florence Thursday, will continue it Saturday hosting Valley Christian, and will wrap it up playing at Plains Tuesday.

For their part, the Blue Hawk boys basketballers will host Florence Friday and join the Lady Hawks for boy-girl doubleheader games with Valley Saturday and Plains Tuesday.

Boy-girl doubleheaders involving the rest of the teams of Sanders County will also be played this week.

Both Hot Springs teams will visit Pablo for games with Two Eagle River Thursday and will then host the Arlee Scarlets and Warriors Saturday, the Noxon girls and boys will host Two Eagle River Friday and St. Regis Saturday, and the Plains Trotters and Horsemen will visit Charlo Friday before their dates with Thompson Falls in Plains Tuesday.

In wrestling, the Thompson Falls Blue Hawks, fresh off winning the team title at the Bob Kinney Classic in Superior last week, will make their annual trip to Great Falls to compete in the CM Russell Christmas Tournament Friday and Saturday.

The Plains-Hot Springs Savage Horsemen grapplers will wrestle in the Arlee Quadrangular Thursday, in a mixer at Eureka Friday and, after staying overnight there that night, in the Buzz Lucey Memorial tourney in Eureka Saturday.
