Red Devils on the rise?

January 11, 2018

Bart Haflich thinks his Red Devil boys are better than they have showed lately, and wants them to start proving that to him out there on the basketball court.

“I think we can play better than we have shown since Christmas,” he said. “It would be nice to see us play well these next few weeks. We need to rise above the middle of the pack and this would be a good place to start.”

Providing just such an opportunity this week, Noxon has two home boy-girl doubleheaders on tap to get well quick, hosting Troy Thursday and 14C rival Plains Saturday.

The Devils split games to open the 2018 portion of the schedule, defeating Hot Springs 50-27 in Noxon Friday and falling to Arlee 70-19 in Arlee Saturday.

Against Hot Springs, Rylan Weltz led the winners with 14 points, Logan Wood scored nine, Levi Brubaker and Owen Fisher eight apiece, Alex Currie four, Matthew Kaiser, Aiden Galloway and Braedon Marshall two each and Ethan Hinrchsen one.

Please see other story for Hot Springs scoring.

At Arlee, Brubaker led the Devils with seven points, Currie added six, Wood three, Weltz two and Hinrichsen one.

Paced by Greg Whitesell’s 15 points, five Arlee players broke into double figure scoring. Still unbeaten, the Warriors, the defending State C champs, have been ranked No. 1 among Montana Class C teams all season.
