Over the Hill gang is back in golfing action

The Over the Hill gang is back and all is right once more in the local golfing world.

Taking advantage of glorious sunshine this past Monday morning at Thompson Falls’ own little slice of golfing heaven at River’s Bend, 31 Over the Hill golfers played around a surging Clark Fork River on holes No. 1 and 2 to make the gang’s first official circuit around the Bend in 2018.

Showing no ill effects from the recently passed winter of 2017-2018, Mike Gilmore registered the low men’s gross round of 40, while Al Luckow calculated out the low men’s net of 30 and Lana Nolen the low women’s net of 29.

In other Monday morning highlights, Buck Adams was closest to the hole in 2 on No. 1, Gary Moe shot down the long putt on No. 2, Rusty Haggard converted the long putt on No. 3, Doug Deck made the longest putt on No. 4, Jesse Mack was closest to the pin off the tee on No. 5, George Krueger crushed the long 70+ drive on No. 6 and sank the long putt on No. 7, Charlie Hooten put down the long putt on No. 6, Don Hansen was the master of the green on No 8, Carter Meyer made good with the long putt on No. 9, and Jens Jantzen smashed the long men’s drive on No. 9.

Haggard made chip-in shots on Nos. 2 and 5 and Meyer got one down on No. 1.

Haggard, Adams, Luckow, Nolen and Bruce Haflich were all required to pay for their pars on No. 2.

Now that the floodgates are open, so to speak, expect the numbers of Over the Hill golfers to surge in the coming weeks of league play – especially if the nice weather we have been having holds.
