A SLIPPERY BEGINNING - The 2018 New Year's Day Fun Run was ran on snow-packed, icy roads Monday, and the runners were forced to use caution right from the start as illustrated by this photo. Participation numbers for the annual race were likely affected by the icy conditions.

A balmy 17 degrees welcomed 39 runners who participated in the 19th annual New Year's Day Fun Run in Thompson Falls on New Year's Day.
