LADY RED DEVIL Kristina Brown drives to the basket against Plains Saturday in Noxon.

NOXON – Noxon Lady Red Devil coach Bart Haflich doesn't wants 16 or 24 – he want the full Monte, 32 minutes of concentrated basketball effort from his girls.

"We have to play all four quarters, good from start to finish," he said. "We had good first halves in both of our games last week but couldn't keep it up. Good teams like Troy and Plains will beat you if you let up at all, and that is what happened to us last week."

The Devils dropped a pair of home games in just such fashion last week, falling 47-40 to Troy Thursday and 51-31 to Plains Saturday. Noxon looks ahead to two road games this week, a non-conference contest at Thompson Falls Thursday and a 14C conference-counter at Pablo against Two Eagle River Saturday.

Haflich expects the Thompson Falls Lady Hawks to be ready for his Devils Thursday. "This should be another good test, another chance for us to put together a complete game," he said. "But I am sure that Thompson Falls will be fired up and ready to play us, too."

The Lady Devils stayed with Plains through most of the first half and into the third quarter before the Trotters took control and moved to the District 14C conference win.

The Devils, in fact, took a 20-19 lead, their first lead of the game, with 5:38 left in the third quarter when Phalyn Fickas assisted Cory Brodmerkle for two points. Plains took control after that from the free throw line, connecting on seven of eight attempts in the latter part of the third quarter to take a 34-26 lead into the fourth.

The short-handed Lady Red Devils, who have only seven players total on their roster, could not get any closer the rest of the way as the Trotters pulled away for the win.

Delaney Weltz led the West End girls with nine points, Brodmerkle and Kristina Brown scored eight each and Anna Kaiser six.

Please see other story for Plains scoring.

Noxon's game with Troy Thursday followed pretty much the same script. The Devils led 27-20 at the half but the Lady Trojans won the third quarter 15-6 to take a 35-33 lead into the fourth, and then held on to win.

Weltz counted 14 points to lead the Devils, Brodmerkle scored 12, Kaiser 10, and Brown and Fickas two each.

Allie Coldwell scored 17 points to pace Troy, Kaitlyn Downey scored 14 more and Aurora Becquart 11.
