Movin’ up and movin’ on.

The Plains-Hot Springs Little Guy wrestlers were all about moving up and moving on at the Inter-Valley Tournament in Stevensville Saturday, and as a direct result of all their good wrestling have earned their ways into the next big thing, the season-ending Western Montana Little Guy championships in Kalispell this weekend.

Moving on to Kalispell, where wrestling will begin Friday evening at Glacier High School with the Junior High wrestlers taking to the mats first, followed by the Novice and Middle wrestlers competing Saturday, a total of 21 Plains-Hot Springs Little Guys made the grade in Stevensville.

Pinning down championships at the Inter-Valley were Novice grappler Nick McCallister (85 pounds), Middle wrestler Spur Ryan (100) and Junior High grappler Benedict Waterbury (126).

Winning second place Inter-Valley medals were Brady Schrenk (Novice-75), Aaron Pfister (Middle-95), Brady Schrenk (Middle-105) and Will Tatum (Middle-166) and placing third were Chance Angle (Novice-85), Weston Wagoner (Novice-100), Johnny Waterbury (Middle-80), Drew Carey (Middle-85), Coyle Nagy (Junior High-105), Kyle Lawson (JH-120) and Alex Ellis (JH-170).

Also placing in the top eight and qualifying for this weekend’s Western Montana Championships were Novice competitors Isaiah Mathers, Matthew Thurston and Jonny Felix, Middle contestants Gunnar Gannarelli, Mason Elliott and Aidan Rich, and Junior High wrestlers Taylor Angle and Levi Blood.

A valued member of the Plains-Hot Springs Savage Horsemen wrestling team the past several seasons, Plains senior Luke Lile was inadvertently omitted from the list of valued Plains-Hot Springs coaches last week.
