Our Viewpoint: Agencies work to keep county safe

Area agencies are making an effort to share knowledge and strategies for keeping Sanders County safe. City and county law enforcement agencies are working with local schools, starting conversations about preventing incidents and preparing action plans in case something catastrophic happens here.

Next week, Sanders County Coalition for Families will bring together representatives of local agencies for training on domestic violence issues. And area emergency services personnel hold mock training incidents or step up to help in situations such as the active wildfire season of 2017.

Making a change in any aspect of life requires someone to start the discussion, and we’re proud that these conversations are happening in Sanders County. Change isn’t a bad thing, and taking steps to change in how agencies respond to situations, and making sure we’re prepared to handle situations as a community.

Knowing your neighbors, as well as your local law enforcement officers and emergency personnel, only makes us stronger as a county. And there are resources available throughout Sanders County to provide help with various needs. It’s important to know about these organizations, support them, and familiarize yourself with them should you need services.

Thanks to these agencies and local law enforcement staff for making Sanders County better and keeping us safe.
