Flycasters organize T. River cleanup

Beautification Days may be over, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t more to clean up. Thompson River provides many locals a wonderful place to recreate and needs some tidying up.

Sanders County Flycasters are organizing a Thompson River Clean-Up and are asking for help in gathering debris and garbage from the roadway and riverbanks. Volunteers are asked to meet at the junction of Highway 200 and Thompson River Road, Saturday, May 5 at 9 a.m. to kick-off the event.

“We always get a great response as far as volunteers, and we really appreciate the help,” said Myles Sexton of Sanders County Flycasters. “It is fun to go for a walk and fish while helping out, and in the last three to four years, it is cleaner then it was before. It makes our job easier and we usually have a great group of people who come and make this thing a success.”

From noon to 1 p.m., post clean-up, Sanders County Flycasters will provided an appreciation BBQ lunch for volunteers, and anyone who wants to sit and enjoy a burger beside the river at the mile marker 17 bridge. For more information on the clean-up contact Sexton at (406) 531-9804.
