FSPW schedules first aid classes

Friends of Scotchman Peaks Wilderness has two Wilderness and Remote First Aid (WRFA) and CPR classes scheduled in the next few months. Seekers of a WRFA/CPR certification or recertification can sign up for the classes on July 28 - 29 or October 20 - 21 at the very affordable price of $60.00, with the caveat that participants will also give two days of volunteer time.

“That’s a very good deal,” said FSPW Program Coordinator Sandy Compton. “The average price for this class is about $300, CPR training is included, and the two volunteer days can be given over the next two years, which is the life of the certification.”

The FSPW First Aid classes are led by FSPW board member Carol Jenkins, a retired RN and certified Red Cross WRFA instructor. Jenkins uses a combination of classroom study and hands-on scenarios to teach the methodology and also acquaint students with the basics of medical emergency response mentality.

The WRFA classes are presented at the Idaho Conservation League offices at Euclid and Pine in the Sandpoint Event Center. FSPW has been providing WRFA/CPR certification as a service to the community for over five years.
