Local TV district amps up choices

October 25, 2018

Changes are in the air for Western Sanders County TV District.

Noxon and Trout Creek will now offer KSPS, Spokane PBS on channel 15. In addition, channels 7-1, 7-2, 7-3 and 7-4 will host World, Create and KIDS.

For those living in Thompson Falls, two new stations have been added. Family and Heartland are replacing KSPS and KXLY 4, both of Spokane, which were lost earlier due to moving subscription service. Daily schedules for these stations can be viewed at http://www.lukencommunications.com.

Missoula channels currently include: channel 8 (CBS), which has KPAX, the CW, Grit and Ion; channel 9 (NBC) has KCFW, KECI, and MeTV movie station; channel 11 has Montana PBS, PBS KIDS, Create, World, and Montana legislature;  channel 23 (ABC) has KTFM, FOX and SWX; and in addition to 2.1 KREM, there is channel 4.1 Heartland, 4.2 Family and 6.1 KHQ.   Schedules for these stations can be seen at http://www.tvtv.us/mt/missoula/59807.

Throughout the summer, maintenance at six relay sites from Pat’s Knob to Green Mountain have been underway, which has resulted in temporary disruptions of the TV signal.  Repairs were made to antennas, fans and pre-amps. One summer thunderstorm took out the transformer on Green Mountain, but the Northern Lights, Inc.’s line crew had it replaced the same morning.  Receivers were also purchased to allow reception of additional channels. Questions regarding signal reception can be left at Western Sanders County Television by phoning 827-4100.
