PICTURE PERFECT - Noxon's Rylan Weltz gets his jump shot off over the outstretched arms of Plains' Esvin Reyes in Noxon Friday.

The Noxon Red Devils played host to Plains for senior night action last week, but couldn't keep up with the aggressive Horsemen and suffered a 56-44 loss.

"Plains was being aggressive and getting to the rim and we were settling for jump shots," Red Devil Coach Bart Haflich said, adding that not being aggressive has been one of the downfalls of the season for his team. He said the Red Devils need to shoot more free throws, noting that Plains shot 27 in the Noxon matchup and the Red Devils only shot seven.

"They attacked a little bit more than we did," Haflich said, "and it was a struggle."

Rylan Weltz led the Red Devils with 19 points, Levi Brubaker had eight, Alex Currie five, Jeriko Smith and Edison VanVleet four each, Logan Wood three and Owen Fisher scored one point.

The Red Devils are now looking forward to the District 14C tournament in Pablo. Haflich said the team is looking to clean up some of the struggles they have faced all season. "We need to work on taking care of the ball, turnovers, rebounding, and being more aggressive and going to the rim," Haflich said.

Noxon will meet Hot Springs in the first round of the district tournament on Thursday. "They play hard and rebound the ball really well, and we'll have to focus on boxing out," Haflich said of the Savage Heat. "We'll try and attack the seams of the zone offense and force the issue at the rim. We're looking forward to the tournament and looking to play our best basketball."
