Senior Tyler Carr and freshman Katelyn Christensen stood out for the Hot Springs Savage Heat team at the Western C divisional track and field meet in Missoula last week.

The senior-freshman duo scored 14 points apiece for the Savage Heat boys and girls teams in Missoula, and will now be joined by freshman Kyle Lawson, who placed seventh in the 300 meter hurdles, in traveling to Laurel this week for the State C meet, to be held in conjunction with the State A at the Laurel Sports Complex Thursday through Saturday.

Carr motored to second place in the 110 meter hurdles and to third in the 300 meter hurdles to punch his ticket to Laurel, timing out in 16.79 seconds in the 110s and 43.15 in the 300s for his Western C medals.

One of the top young talents in the Western C this spring, Christensen continued her outstanding season by winning a second place medal in the javelin, pitching the spear a lifetime-best 120-0, and grabbing a third place medal in the long jump, where she bounded 15 feet, 7 inches.

Lawson, who qualified with his seventh place finish in the 300 meter hurdles due to the fact that the top seven place-winners were allowed to advance to the State C because of the large amount of teams in the Western C division this season, very nearly also qualified in the 110 meter hurdles, winning eighth place in that event.

Jack McAllister and Elena McAllister also competed for Hot Springs in Missoula.

Jack vied for honors in the triple jump and pole vault with the boys, while older sister Elena ran in the 300 meter hurdles.
