Delaney, Levi, Edison lead Red Devils

Dealney Weltz, Levi Brubaker and Edison VanVleet, three Noxon seniors who will be sorely missed during all of the high school sports seasons beginning next fall, led the Red Devils in the State C track and field meet in Laurel last week.

Donning the NHS red and white for the final time in her high school career, Weltz made her marks in the shot put (35 feet, 1.25 inches) and discus (106-10) stand up for third and fifth place medals in those events.

An All-State C performer for Noxon in volleyball and basketball earlier this school year, Weltz’s graduation will leave a large void in NHS athletics beginning next fall. Delaney scored all eight team points for the Lady Red Devils in Laurel.

Brubaker and VanVleet were also athletes for all seasons in Noxon, participating in football and basketball in addition to being team leaders for the Red Devil track and field team.

Brubaker capped his spectacular triple jumping career by marking 44 feet, 5 inches to win second place in the State C, and long jumped 20-6 to earn fourth place in that venue.

VanVleet ran down fifth place in the 300 meter hurdles, timing out in 42.09 seconds to win his medal.

Brubaker and VanVleet combined to score all 14 team points for the Devil boys in Laurel.
