Scratch and scramble for Over the Hill gang

 


It was a scratch and scramble day with the Over the Hill golfing gang Monday morning at sunny River’s Bend, and Sam Burt and Carter Meyer emerged from the links fracas with the winning score of 31.5.

With the Over the Hill golfers split off into two-man teams, and the final score for each duo determined by dividing their combined rounds by two, Dave Petteys and Gary Thompson (34.5) placed second and Al Luckow and Randy Hojem (35) third.

In other Over the Hill news of the day, Thompson shot the low individual gross of 38, besides being closest to No. 1 in 2 and dropping in the long putts on Nos. 4 and 6, Burt checked in with the low men’s net of 29, Barb Wooden shot the women’s low net of 38, Hojem stuck the long putt in the cup on No. 2, Bary Moore buried the long putt on No. 3, Lana Nolen was the woman closest to the pin on No. 5, Dave Tallant was the man closest to the pin on No. 5, Charlie Hooten smashed the long 70+ drive on No. 6, Jerry Neal converted the long putt on No. 7, Rusty Haggard scored the long putts on Nos. 8 and 9, and John Torres hit the long drive of the day on No. 9.

Scott Garr (No. 2), Ron Beaty (No. 4) and Christie Beaty (No. 7) all made chip-in shots, and Hojem and Hooten wound up getting paid for their pars on No. 2.

Thirty Over the Hill golfers made it to the tee box in time for league play this week.
