Shanksters win battle, Double H Dirt wins war

Shanks a Lot won the battle but Double H Dirt Works won the war.

Shanks a Lot golfers Jens Jantzen, Dave Garr, Ron Beaty and Charlie Hooten posted the low gross of 178 in Tuesday Night Men’s League play at River’s Bend last week but it was not quite enough as Double H Dirt Works held on to the lead and won the first half of league play.

The Shanksters big day of play gave them 166.5 team points on the last night of the first half, just short of Double H Dirt’s final tally of 168.

Sparky’s Gutter Time – Kevin Sparks, Tom Hollearn, Doug Czerwinski and Mike Bates – shot the low team net of 140, as Czerwinski led his team in with the low individual gross of 40. Ron Belger collected low net honors with a 32.

In hole play, Czerwinski was closest to the pin in 3 on No. 2, Carter Meyer rolled in the long putt on No. 3, Steve Clark was closest to the pin on No. 5 and dropped in the long putt on No. 6, and River’s Bend icon Jesse Mack hit the long drive on No. 9.

Bates (No. 3), Belger (No. 6) and Russ Yeager (No. 8) made chip-in shots part of their rounds.

The final first half standings:

Double H Dirt Works 168

Sparky’s Gutter Time 163.5

Bear Muscle Fitness 157

Feed-N-Fuel 154.5
