City receives bid for pool project

The City of Thompson Falls received one bid for the Thompson Falls pool project At the Thompson Falls City Council meeting on Monday, Mayor Jerry Lacy said that one bid was received for the project. The bid came in at $163,00, which was higher than the $150,000 anticipated.

The city received a grant from Montana State Parks earlier this year for $75,000 and the city had to come up with $75,000 in matching funds. City Clerk Chelsea Peterson said that following donations have been received: $25,000 from the Frisbee Morbella Foundation, $5,00 each from the Oddfellows and Blackfoot, $1,500 from Hecla Charitable Foundation and $500 from Cabinet Ridge Riders. An additional $40,000 will come from the capital improvements fund for the city.

Peterson noted that showers, a boiler and a water heater also need to be replaced, adding to the project cost. It did include the pool deck, fencing, fixing the wading pool, a new diving board, a new pool cover and lifeguard chairs.

The next city council meeting will be Tuesday, October 15, at 6 p.m.
