Hill gang ends play

September 19, 2019

The Over the Hill gang called it a season at River’s Bend with one final round Monday morning, playing a round of “Cheaters’ Golf” for their last nine holes of official league play.

Liking the cheating format best – one mulligan at the tee, one foot wedge and one throw were allowed – the notorious Garr brothers, Scott and Dave, made off with the most honors for the day as Dave shot the low cheaters’ gross of 36 and Scott calculated out the low cheaters’ net of 28.

In hole play, Dave Garr cajoled the long putts in on Nos. 11 and 13, Scott Garr smacked the long 70+ drive on No. 15 and downed the long putt on No. 17, Gary Thompson was closest to the flag in 2 on No. 10, Bruce Haflich rolled in the long putt on No. 12, Wally Gibe was closest to the pin off the tee on No. 14, Charlie Hooten dropped in the long putt on No. 15, Rusty Sharp earned long putt honors on No. 16, Gary Moe put the long putt to bed on No. 18 and John Beckman hit the long drive on No. 18.
