The Blue Hawk Wrestling Club sent several grapplers into action at the Bonners Ferry Youth Tournament this past weekend.

With a soccer tournament also going on, the number of wrestlers who went to Idaho was low, but coach Mike Thilmony expects to have more for another tournament this week in Post Falls. He says there are 23 kids out for fall youth wrestling.

In Bonners Ferry, Hartleigh Block won third place at Bantam – 43 pounds; Micah Hartman did not place at Bantam-49; Kalib Butler won second place at Bantam-53; Caz Zeretzke was third at Bantam-56; Kinley Dennis third at Intermediate-67; Emory Butler second at Novice-58; Andrew Sundstrom second at Novice-125; Paul Sundstrom second at Middle School-77; and Ian Myer second at Middle School-97.

Thilmony said the program has several girls competing and is attracting more girl wrestlers every year as that side of the sport continues to grow. Montana will hold a youth girls state tournament for the first time March 7 in Billings.
