Giving thanks for law enforcement

Police department personnel in Hot Springs, Plains and Thompson Falls, and the Sanders County Sheriff’s Office strive to protect the people and properties within their jurisdictions 24 hours a day, seven days a week. In doing so, they put their personal lives on hold and on the line…to provide a safe community.

This Thursday, January 9, is National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day. Take a moment to say “Thank you” to a law enforcement officer for the sacrifices they have made for public protection. Recently, national criticism has been directed toward law enforcement based on a few instances. It is more important than ever to show respect and appreciation to offset the discouragement officers may be feeling.

Stressful, dangerous, difficult, comprised of long hours, unknown working conditions and impossible are words that have been used to describe law enforcement careers. In light of providing a public service to their communities, officers coordination with other local, state and federal law organizations to increase the safety of our community.

On National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day, recognize the integrity of your local officers. Write a letter of gratitude, wear blue to show appreciation and when you see a law enforcement officer, say “Thank you.” Imagine what your small, hometown Sanders County community would be like without them.
