Horsemen prep for Warriors

HIGH RISING Nathan Feliska goes up for a shot against Charlo Thursday in Plains.

PLAINS – Games with the Arlee Warriors aren't what they used to be for the Plains Horsemen.

After all, over the course of the last several years, the powerful Warriors were the undisputed kings of District 14C basketball, going on to win two of the last three State C tournaments and finishing second in the other, and were traditionally the most feared opponents for any 14C foe.

Things have changed this year however as Arlee has been realigned into Class B, taking the conference-counting pressure off games with the Warriors for the time being at least.

Now 6-0 in 14C action and 11-2 overall and the current league leaders in 14C, coach Tyrel Allen and his Horsemen travel to Arlee Saturday for what promises to be an interesting matchup with the retooled Warriors. Most of the players from Arlee's State C title teams have now moved on and coach Zanen Pitts stepped down following last season, leaving a new-look Arlee team behind.

Not that they aren't still very good. "I think this is the most complete team we will play this season," Allen said. "This should be a fun game for the kids. A good, stress-free game where we can just go out there and play."

The Horsemen moved to a pair of fairly stress-free wins last week, chasing the Charlo Vikings out of Plains on the short end of a 73-52 score Thursday and running past the Trojans 56-25 in Troy Saturday.

Kade Pardee led Plains past Charlo with 16 points, Jake Weyers added 12, Tucker Foster 10, Nathan Feliska and Parker Flock nine apiece, Treydon Brouillette seven, Jeremiah Allen and Esvin Reyes four each and Duncan Chisholm two.

Nate Clark led Charlo with 10 points and Phil Marquez and Dawson DuMont scored nine apiece.

At Troy, Weyers led the Plains win with 13 points, Brouillette bucketed 11, Pardee and Feliska nine each, Foster six, Reyes four, Flock two and Allen and Chisholm one apiece. Pardee also pulled down 15 rebounds and dished out six assists, Feliska added nine rebounds and Foster six.
