Lady Hawks to play Fab Five

January 30, 2020

Call it a Fab Five of sorts, and coach Chadd Laws and his Lady Hawks are looking forward to it.

Beginning Saturday at TFHS gym with District 6B’s Anaconda Copperheads, the Lady Hawks will then play out the regular season with five important games, also including Loyola, Eureka, Mission and Bigfork over the course of the next few weeks.

“Our last five games are all with very competitive, challenging opponents,” Laws said. “We think this will help prepare us, help us get ready for the tournament season.”

Now 10-2 (results from Tuesday’s rescheduled game at Troy were not available) and ranked No. 10 in the most recent Montana Class B power poll, the Hawks ran to two non-conference home wins last week, defeating Noxon 66-23 Tuesday and Clark Fork 58-15 Thursday.

Sisters Megan and Elli Baxter keyed the win over Noxon with 12 points apiece, Elli Pardee chipped in with 11, Faith Frields 10, Riley Wilson seven, Caity Alexander six, Belle Cooper four, and Reagan Hanks and Dani VanHuss two each.

Ellie Baxter passed out seven assists and Wilson five, Megan Baxter added eight rebounds and four blocked shots, Pardee seven rebounds and Ellie Baxter, Cooper and Alexander three steals apiece.
