Howling Wild Coyotes lead Wednesday play

What was that painfully loud howling noise heard at River’s Bend last Wednesday night?

Why that was the howl of the lonesome Wild Coyote golf team – Gary Thompson, Steve Clark, Howard Morkert and Dave Petteys – who joined forces to pack up and hunt, shooting down the low team gross of 171 in weekly men’s league action.

Whitefish Credit Union golfers Rick Kendall, Rutsy Sharp, Randy Hojem and Chuck Manry tried shooing the pesky Coyotes off the course with the low team net of 146 but to no avail.

Ryan Ostwald reeled in weekly low individual gross honors with a fine round of 37, and Mike Baxter was low individual net with a 33.

Ostwald put his ball closest to the pin in 3 on No. 2, Chadd Laws rose to the challenge and rolled in the long putt on No. 3, John Mosher was the man with the longest putt on No. 6, Ben Mummert masterfully put his tee shot closest to the cup on No. 8, Jesse Mosher mashed the long tee shot on No. 9, and Jesse Mack hit yet another called-shot home run with his long 55+ drive on No. 9.

In the chip-in department, Dennis Gripp and Mummert (No. 2), Bruce Sterling (No. 3) and Baxter (No. 5) all put one in.

In spite of all the frenzied action going on in the pack behind them, Ron’s Running Dinos remain ahead of the rest in current league standings.

Those standings:

Ron’s Running Dinos 94

Whitefish CU 88.5

Moore Oil 85

Wild Coyote 84

First Security Bank 81

Ty’s 76.5

Hagedorn Surveying 69

T-R-L 62
