Monster trucks set to take over fairgrounds

Sanders County residents won’t have to wait until the fair to attend an event there. The fairgrounds will be hosting a “No Limits Monster Truck Firecracker Nationals” show in the main arena on July 4 for two shows at 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. Tickets are limited to 2,000 for each event and are $20 for adults and $15 for those 12 years old and younger. Ticket prices will be higher at the door, according to Checkered Flag Promotions. The truck lineup will include names like “Zilla,” “Trouble-Maker,” “D’sTurbed,” “Double Trouble,” “Obsessed,” and “Wrong Way Rick.”

Locals will have the chance to participate in a “Tuff Truck” obstacle course, where demolition cars will be allowed, and to be a part of the Custom Truck Show & Shine Contest. In addition, there will be UTV races for those 14 and older. There will be trophies for the top three finishers. There is no entry fee, but contestants must pay a $30 pit fee, according to Ed Beckley of Checkered Flag Promotions.

There will also be Kids Power Wheel Races for children 3-9 years old, one for 6-volt and 12-volt vehicles and an open class up to 36-volt. There will also be trophies for the first three placements in each class. The race is free, but parents must bring their own kids vehicle and safety equipment and pay for a ticket for the event.

Those interested in any of the local competitions should show up an hour prior to each show. For more information call (940) 683-4742, Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. People can get tickets, register for the competitions and get information by going to the promoter website nolimitsmonstertrucks.com.
