See you later? Whitefish CU golfers jump ahead

The CU doesn’t stand just for credit union; it may also stand for “see you” later in the Wednesday Night Men’s League golf race.

Whitefish Credit Union (or CU) golfers Ron Beaty, Rick Kendall, Rusty Sharp and Randy Hojem teamed up to shoot the low team gross of 175 last week at River’s Bend, giving the CU-later quartet a healthy 7.5 point lead in the second half standings of Wednesday Night Men’s League play.

The T-R-L team of Jay Dowell, Jody Doyle, Wally Gibb and Chuck Manry used their handicaps to arrive at the low team net of 143.

In individual play, Dan Kier had a round to remember, shooting the low gross of 39 while winning honors on three different holes – hitting his tee shots closest to the pin on Nos. 5 and 8, and ending up closest to the pin in 3 on No. 2.

Manry solved the Bend for the low individual net of 34.

In other Wednesday highlights, Randy Hagedorn knocked down a chip-in on No. 2 and downed the long putt on No. 3, Mark Terrazas rolled in the long putt on No. 6, and Paul Flemmer sent the long drive on No. 9 to its maker.

The standings:

Whitefish CU 52

Ron’s Running Dinos 44.5

Wild Coyote 42

T-R-L 40.5

Hagedorn Surveying 39.5

First Security Bank 34
