Savage Heat hope to repeat net magic

September 3, 2020

Fresh off one of the best net seasons in school history, coach Alisha Pablo and her retooled Hot Springs Savage Heat are looking forward to another one of the best net seasons in school history.

Pablo guided the Savage Heat to new net heights last year as the Heat qualified for a rare Western C berth by winning second-place in the District 14C tournament, and then followed that up with a strong fourth place finish at the Western C tourney.

And although All-conference hitter McKennzie Cannon and all-around players Sydney and Sage Jackson have graduated and moved on, Pablo is still excited with what she has back for this season.

Leading that list of reasons for optimism are Katelyn Christensen (a second team 14C All-conference selection), Savannah Roosma, Lizzy Fisher, Lily Winn and Lilly DeTienne. A few other Hot Springs girls could be expected to play their way into the mix as well.

“We are really excited, we think we should have another pretty good team,” Pablo said. “We lost a lot from last year, but we still have a lot of talented players back.”

The Savage Heat were to have played Clark Fork in Superior Tuesday, and will open their home schedule hosting Noxon Thursday.

The 2019 season was a special one for Hot Springs, and Pablo thinks they could recreate some of that magic again in 2020. “It’s a lot of fun watching this group come together,” she said. “We were able to find some magic last year and we are hoping to find that again.”
