When the Hawks get it going the points really start flowing.

The explosive Thompson Falls boys improved to 3-0 overall and in District 7B play with a pair of important conference wins last week, topping the Mission Bulldogs 59-57 in St. Ignatius Friday and then holding off a strong second-half rally to defeat the Eureka Lions 64-60 in Thompson Falls Saturday.

Having a chance to open 7B play with a 4-0 record, the Hawks were set to play at Bigfork Tuesday but results of that game were not available at press time. Since Saturday's game with Deer Lodge has been cancelled, and the Hawks have not been able to find a substitute opponent, the Thompson Falls boys will not play again until next Tuesday against Stillwater Christian in Kalispell.

"It will be good to see how we match up with Bigfork and it would be great to come out of there with a win," Hawk coach Jake Mickelson said. "We are off to a pretty good start for a first go-around through conference play."

Big scoring spurts in both games spurred the Hawks to the twin 7B wins last week.

Against Mission, the Hawks controlled the action in the second and third quarters, outscoring the hometown Bulldogs 32-23 in those two periods to take a 45-42 lead into the final stanza, and then held on down the stretch.

Newcomer Dante Micheli paced the Hawks with 20 points, including three 3-pointers, Kade Pardee scored 14, Nathan Schraeder and Cody Bruk seven apiece, Tristan Subatch and Justin Morgan four each and Roman Sparks three.

Zoran LaFrambois scored a game-high 26 points for Mission including five 3-pointers (four of which he made in the first quarter) and Cederick McDonald added 12 points.

The Hawks started hot but finished cold in the game with Eureka, streaking out to a 47-28 lead by halftime before eventually putting away the Lions in the fourth quarter, thanks in large part to a few clutch field goals and free throws down the stretch from Micheli.

Schraeder led the Hawk win with 22 points (including four treys), Micheli added 17, Burk and Pardee nine apiece, Subatch five and Breck Ferris two. Micheli also recorded five assists, Pardee grabbed nine rebounds and passed out six assists, and Schraeder and Morgan pilfered three steals each.

Danny Dunn scored 23 points to lead Eureka, Gavin Bates added 13 and TJ Carr nine.
