LOOKING TO SCORE - Peter Carey has been a team leader for Plains-Hot Springs this season wrestling at 126 pounds.

It was a busy day of wrestling for the Plains-Hot Springs Savage Horsemen with Eureka in Florence Friday.

Although the Lions won the dual from P-HS 39-22, the Savage Horsemen grapplers got a total of 19 individual matches in during the day including exhibitions.

In the dual match, Jacob Schulze of P-HS pinned Eureka's Carson Conard at 1:07 of the 120 pound match and Bert DeTienne scored a 6-0 decision win over Jaxon Hume at 152, while Peter Carey (126), Stephen Schulze (132), Brenden Vandrerwall (145), William Dyson (182) and Denny Black (285) all lost tough matches.

Carey's loss to Kyle Durden, a returning state placer, was one of the highlights for Plains in fact. "Peter was down by only one point going into the third period," coach Shane Angle said, "a match like that gives us a lot of feedback on what we need to work on." Durden ultimately won the match by 5-2 decision.

In exhibition matches, Donnie Nelson (103-113), Drew Carey (120), Brady Schrenk (138), Brody Black (145), DeTienne (145-152) and Lily McDonald (145-152) all won by pin and Jesse Uski (182) by a one-point decision over Eureka's Colyn Johnson.

Angle said Vanderwall had an exciting back-and-forth match in his exhibition and that McDonald defeated Eureka's Austin Marshall "with a great throw and a pin," in her exhibition in a time of 1:52.

Stephen Schulze (126), Vanderwall (145), Black (205) and Dyson (182) also all wrestled exhibition matches in Florence as well.

With the four P-HS female wrestlers headed to the first-ever girls tourney this week, the remainder of the Savage Horsemen will remain in Plains and host triangular dual along with Mission-Charlo and Bigfork Saturday.
