Trotters aim for second season

February 18, 2021

It’s the second season; a time to begin again.

Hoping to parlay an up-and-down regular season into tournament success, Plains Trotters coach Eddie Fultz was upbeat early this week.

“Whatever kind of season you have had, tournaments represent a new beginning, another chance to do your best,” he said. “It could take a great effort over the course of several games in a short time, but we still have a chance to be one of the top two teams and move on.”

As detailed in the 14C tournament story, the No. 4 Trotters were to have hosted No. 5 St. Regis Tuesday and results were not available.

Fultz and his Trotters prepped for tourney play with a pair of wins to end the regular season last week, nudging past St. Regis 46-42 in Plains Thursday and stopping Hot Springs 38-22 in the Spa City Friday.

Against St. Regis, Carlie Wagoner led the winners with 13 points, Krystena Boes knocked down 11, Kimmy Curry nine, Riley Ganarelli, Grace Horton and Genna Deschamps three each and Kaylah Standeford and Celsey VonHeeder two apiece.

Macy Hill scored a game-high 16 points for St. Regis and Avery Burnham 10 for the Lady Tigers.

In Hot Springs, Wagoner again led the Trotters’ winning way with 12 points, Curry scored nine, Kaylee Cole seven, Boes four and Standeford and Deschamps three each.
