It is slotted for June 25 and 26, 2021. Mark your calendars so you do not miss the locally infamous Sanders County Yard Sale-ing Event! After taking a one-year hiatus, event organizer Robin Hagedorn has taken the last month to get word out that it is back.

Hagedorn said she is hoping people are ready to get out and about and do some shopping. She is also hoping people are ready to do some selling as well. “It is time to get moving around,” she said, referring to the lifestyle changes due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

July 5 of last year, Hagedorn posted on Sanders County Yard Sale-ing Event’s Facebook page, “OK. Now everyone, start collecting for 2021.” She is hoping this year will be twice as big with the absence of last year’s event.

“All of Highway 200 up to Hot Springs” is included in the yard sale coverage area Hagedorn outlined. “All of Sanders County.” With a $20 registration fee, sellers will receive full advertising of their location and location directions, and a list of items or summary of sale contents. In addition, she will be advertising the weekend event not only in Montana but in Washington and Idaho as well.

“We are hoping to bring people into the county and have them spend their money here.” Hagedorn said. “Then we hope they come back and spend more money,” increasing revenue at the local level. Sanders County businesses have the option of sponsoring the event by donating $50 or more to have business logos advertised on the Sanders County Yard Sale-ing Event’s website, posters and flyers. Businesses interested in sponsorship have a May 10 deadline.

Since 2007, when Bruce and Diane Laube organized the first sale-ing event, buyers have travelled to the county spending money at hotels, restaurants and stores in addition to private yard sales. The event has gained popularity throughout the years as organizers have changed hands. According to Hagedorn, in 2010 the event was taken over by Katrina Campbell and Jen Kreiner of Tour 200. In 2017, Thompson Falls Main Street’s Gigi Comer and Kiera Lacy took the reins for a year until Hagedorn resumed the position in 2018 on behalf of Thompson Falls Main Street.
