PHS softball begins anew

There will be some new faces on the field and on the bench for the Plains-Hot Springs Trotters softball team this spring.

Leading that list of new faces will be head coaches Kati Mitchell and Dani Walker Crowe. In an unusual arrangement, Mitchell will be head coach for the first week of the season and Crowe will take over the program after that.

Both Mitchell and Crowe have previously served as assistants for Michele Bangen, who has since stepped down. In her last season as head coach in 2019, Bangen led the Trotters to third place trophies in both the Western B-C and State B-C tournaments, which will be a hard act to follow for Crowe later on this spring.

Dakota Crowe will be P-HS’s new assistant coach for the 17-player strong Trotters.

Kenzi Blood and Skylar Bergstrom are the seniors for the 2021 Trotters, Haylee Steinbach, Jolena Caldwell, Genna Deschamps, Izzy Butcher, Madison Elliott, Celsey VonHeeder, Kaylah Standeford and Krystena Boes the juniors, Piper Bergrstrom, Carlie Wagoner, Izzy Crabb and Faith McGonagle the sophomores and Kassidy O’Keefe, Teirnay Bellinger and Marissa Young the freshman.

The Trotters were scheduled to face the Thompson Falls-Noxon Lady Hawks in Thompson Falls Tuesday afternoon but results of that game were not available.
