KIDS RUSH to hunt for eggs at the Thompson Falls Airport at an event sponsored by local businesses and organized by First Baptist Church.

For the first time in several years, Thompson Falls had a community Easter egg hunt. Organized by Kellee Needles and First Baptist Church of Thompson Falls, "Easter Shell-ebration 2021" was held at the Thompson Falls Airport. The event drew nearly 40 children and their families and included corn hole, bowling, the egg hunt and other games. The egg hunt was held at 2 p.m. Saturday, "so the families could celebrate on their own Sunday morning," said Needles.

During the main event, there were four age groups, including 0-3, 4-6, 7-9 and 10 to 12. Each group was released to hunt for eggs one at a time. After a few minutes of rushed searching, and once most of the eggs were collected, the next group was released. Needles and several volunteers hid over 700 eggs, three of which in each age group corresponded to additional prizes. These prizes included toys, gift cards, coloring books, a scooter and more.

Local businesses donated the prizes, eggs and candy. These businesses included K & D Towing, Minnie's Cafe, Beauty by Bree, Town Pump, Simple Simon's Pizza and numerous other private individuals from the community. There was also an adult raffle for a $50 Town Pump gift card. The total budget for the event was $200, and according to Needles, brought a fun hunt back to locals in the area.
