Volunteers to connect with groups Saturday

The Thompson Falls Chamber of Commerce is connecting local non-profit organizations and residents looking for volunteer opportunities. The Non-Profit Volunteer fair is set for 1-5 p.m. Saturday at the Thompson Falls Community Center.

Andrea Christensen, the Chamber board member organizing the fair, said they have more than a dozen non-profits attending the event. Donations were received from Thompson River Lumber, Rex Theater Project and Project ASCENT.

The non-profit organizations will meet before the public attends. “We’re encouraging our non-profit leaders to mingle and network to discuss their major fundraising efforts and needs in hopes to perhaps collaborate and coordinate to help everyone meet their needs,” Christensen said.

At 1 p.m., community members are invited to attend, meet the non-profits and get to know the needs of the community, as well as the services the organizations offer. “There are many unique volunteer opportunities that will be presented, some with small commitments, others that offer training and great skill development, and all are so good for the soul, and resume,” Christensen said. During the non-profit fair, the Chamber will offer various snacks and classic summer beverages.

Christensen is excited to organize this opportunity for the community. “I think this is going to be an absolute blast. I am so looking forward to seeing all our hardworking volunteers and community members take part in this fun day,” she added.

As of Monday, the following non-profits had committed to the Chamber volunteer fair: Sanders County Community Development Corporation, The Rex Theater Project, TRACS, Sanders County Coalition for Families, Sanders County 4-H, Be Like Bill Foundation, Thompson Falls Ambulance, Project ASCENT, Thompson Falls Main Street, Sanders County Community Housing Organization, Disabled American Veterans Transportation, CASA of Lake and Sanders counties, The Elks Lodge #2757 Charity Organization and the Thompson Falls Bowling Association.
