Thompson Falls Main Street hosted their annual spring Jamboree Friday at Clark Fork Valley Elks (CFVE). A handful of community members attended the event and enjoyed a catered meal, live music and had the chance to bid on a number of items in the live and silent auction.

Karissa Lowe, Thompson Falls Main Street secretary, organized the event for the first time this year. While the crowd was smaller, Lowe believes the event was still a success. “The turnout wasn’t what we wanted, but with other events going on, sports and the nice weather, it made it hard for people to attend,” Lowe said. “I think for the amount we raised with the small attendance numbers it turned out pretty good. Yes, COVID did cancel last year’s jamboree, but this year we’ve had a lot of volunteers and very generous donations.”

Proceeds from this year’s event will be used for new football field bleachers at Thompson Falls High School. “Every year Main Street picks a community project to help,” said Gigi Comer, Thompson Falls Main Street treasurer. “We’ve helped with the project at Goose Landing and the veteran’s memorial. Our next event will be July 4th at Ainsworth Park. Everything is coming together, but we are still looking for more food vendors.”

Entertainment was provided by Western Sky Band and Dave Oliver also served as the auctioneer for the night’s event. The big-ticket item of the evening was the Libby Experience Package valued at $850. Lowe said TRL donated a truck load of firewood and Kent Jones donated a handmade picnic table to be auctioned off. CFVE catered the dinner and Lowe said Black Bear Bakery donated cupcakes and Minnie’s Cafe donated coleslaw. The event raised just around $3,000.
