Contrary to what the science books tell us, the dinosaurs are still here, roaming God’s green earth, patrolling the fairways and greens of River’s Bend Golf Course.

Proving to be not quite extinct just yet, Ron’s Running Dinos, one of the longest-running teams in Thompson Falls league golfing history, fossilized their standing in Wednesday Night Men’s League play by combining to win a friendly game of 1-2-3 last week.

With endangered species sauropods Dan Kier, Bruce Sterling, Jesse Mack, Carter Meyer and Ryan Craven doing the scoring, the Dinos posted a combined 59 to win weekly honors.

Paul Flemmer shot the low individual gross of 38 and Craven the low net of 32.

In hole play, RT Brown was closest to the pin in 3 on No. 2, Gene Wooden was golden with the long putt on No. 3, Steve Fairbank was closest to the pin on No. 5, Mack added to his already considerable legend by burying the long putt of the night on No. 6, Meyer put his tee shot closest to the pin on No. 8, Ostwald blasted the long drive on No. 9, and Ben Mummert silenced the gallery with the long 55+ drive on No. 9.

Steve Clark and Ron Beaty each put down chip-in shots on No. 2 and Bernie Groshong made one disappear on No. 7.

With Hagedorn Land Surveying leading the league with 46.5 points and Highlead sitting in second place at 46, the Wednesday night men return to league play this week.
