Longtime resident Marjory Mates passed away August 6, 2021. She was born September 22, 1938, in New Castle, Pennsylvania. Marjory came to Thompson Falls in 1980 with husband Clare after his retirement from the Air Force. She loved the Thompson Falls area.

Marge worked for the sheriff's office as a dispatcher and was a special deputy under James Doxteter. Marge was active in the quilters guild and enjoyed quilting and crafts.

Marge is preceded in death by husband Clare and son Steven. She is survived by daughters, Marian Wakefield of Redfield, Arkansas and Linda Cameron of Anchorage, Alaska; son, Mike Mates of Bellevielle, Illinois; sister, Dorothy Cather of Oklahoma; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and longtime family friend Charlotte Rowe of Martin City, Montana.
