Horsemen suffer loss at home, will travel to Troy on Friday

Spirits were high at Plains High School heading into their homecoming matchup Saturday against Charlo. The visiting Vikings were quick to dampen the mood, however, as they jumped out to a 30-0 lead in the first quarter, powered by three rushing touchdowns from junior running back Keaton Piedalue.

The second quarter was much of the same as Charlo punched in three more touchdowns and recorded a safety. The star of the second quarter was senior Braydon Zempel, who had a 9-yard touchdown run and a 54-yard kick return for a score. The Horsemen headed into halftime down 52-0 and the game was all but decided.

The second half featured more conservative play from Charlo as they looked to finish out the victory. Vikings’ backup sophomore quarterback Hayden Hollow tacked on two more second-half touchdowns, one through the air on a 20-yard pass to sophomore Tayre Brown, and another on an impressive 30-yard run. The game ended with Charlo on top 74-0.

Coach Ryan Hart and the Horsemen will look to rebound Friday as they travel to face Troy at 7 p.m.
