Our Viewpoint

Age is just a number

February 10, 2022

Tuesday in the newsroom it was discovered that I had the wrong edition number on page three of the February 3 newspaper. Last week was the first edition of our 118th volume. That's 118 years of covering Sanders County!

I was shocked that I had missed The Ledger's birthday. I love celebrating milestones. If you know me even a little, you could probably guess that I was more than excited to celebrate my dog's fourth birthday last month (best pawty ever). As the years go by, we mark significant events in our lives and in the world with dates and stories of "remember when?"

They say age is just a number. When it comes to this newspaper and covering the county and striving to be accurate and thorough each week for our readers, age matters. The Ledger has been here for 118 years, and my hope is that the tradition of quality local news coverage will continue well after my tenure is over for at least another 118 years.

Our staff works hard to provide the best coverage of our county. We are all here because we want to do a good job and because we care about our communities. I'm not sure what the appropriate gift is for a 118th birthday, but words of thanks will have to do for my incredible staff that helps produce a quality newspaper each week. I couldn't do it without you. — Annie Wooden
